The end of year awards are piling up, and Wine Enthusiast just added their 2016 Wine Star Award Winners to the superlative clutter. Check the list, which extends beyond the wine industry to spirits and beer, to see which individuals and companies are leading the beverage industry.

Spirits and Cocktail News

Who needs an upcoming UFC event this weekend in New York when we’ve got two liquor distributor giants battling it out in court and through PR channels. Breakthru Beverage Group apparently put out an offer to acquire New York’s Empire Merchants today. Empire emphatically denied this, claiming, “this is an outrageous publicity stunt by Breakthru. Empire Merchants isn’t for sale…” This story should watch from comfortable seat and accompanied by a full bottle of Scotch. Breakthru is current in court after Empire sued the co-chairmen Charlie Merinoff for fraud and liquor smuggling.
