Two Memorial Day Drink Necessities You Need Now
This holiday weekend marks the beginning of pool season and warm summer nights. We have the two perfect ingredients to make a refreshing splash on your menu. Think plenty of red and blue.
Watermelon
Nothing says summertime quite like watermelon and it’ll add a patriotic red hue to any drink. Here’s what to do with it:
Watermelon Lemonade Mixer
The standard lemonade ingredients like lemon juice and sugar come together here, but even better. Puree watermelon and lemon juice in a blender, stir in equal parts water to cups of cubed melon. Add sugar to the mixture (and clear alcohol) to taste. Serve over ice.
Watermelon Agua fresca
This easy drink option will keep your guests begging for more. Add chilled and chopped watermelon alongside water (a roughly 4:1 ratio) to the blender with a squeeze of lime juice. Cane sugar will add some sweetness if needed and tequila can add some.. well, you know. Straining is optional. Try adding jalapeños to the blender to really spice things up or mint to cool things down.
Blue Curaçao Liqueur
Not only is this liqueur a brilliant shade of blue, but it also has a citrus flavor comparable to an orange, perfect for warm-weather festivities. Here are some great curaçao drink options:
Very Blue Margarita
Mix equal parts blue curaçao and lime juice served with tequila and shaken with ice. This recipe is both visually stunning and so easy to make. Blend for a smooth texture. Rim the glass with salt or garnish with limes or oranges for extra flare.
Blue Lemonade
Add equal parts white rum and blue curaçao to standard lemonade for another quick and easy festive cocktail. Serve over ice or blended for a frozen lemonade twist.
Serve these drinks to keep the festivities going all weekend long. With a few taps, add them to your digital menu to make the party last all summer.
